Rehab: Methadone Detox Rehab

Question: I want to send a letter to my friend in rehab...will the staff/doctors/security read it?

I don't plan on writing anything that I think is remotely inappropriate or anything that would negatively influence my friend's recovery process but I am curious to know who else, if anyone, will read the letters I write to my friend...does anyone know from personal experience what I might encounter? Thanks

Yes, they will open it and scan through it. The reason is that sometimes outsiders will say things that would disrupt the program or even try to sneak drugs in the letter. So do write the person, keep it upbeat, tell them you are proud of them for doing the rehab and just be very optimistic. Don't bring up any bad stuff or anything to cause stress or strain. The only reason they would not give it over is if they thought it was a detriment to the patient.

They will open it, i don't think they are allowed to read it, but sure wouldn't trust that.

Rehabs limit outside contact. There is a good chance that your friend will never see it. I've been in rehab several times, I never saw a mail call. Even outside phone calls were extremely limited.
